Arcade Adventures

So I happened to be in an arcade the other day and found DeathSmiles, the new side-scrolling SHMUP Cave just put out earlier this year featuring moe meido chara designs by Junya Inoue. Of course, that in itself wouldn’t warrant a new post on the blog……until I found this.

That there is the back of the arcade flyer for DeathSmiles. Gotta love those crazy japanese developers XD

In other news, the idolM@ster is apparently getting a new expansion pack……thingy, and a limited edition figurine will be bundled with what I’m assuming are the pre-ordered special editions. Anyone wanna translate for the nihongo-challenged among us? XD

First Otaku Sentai

Seriously man, we should film a tokusatsu with us transforming into poster-wielding rangers. Kwok can be the Touhou Ranger and Jia Han can be the Figurine Meister. I shall name this thing as Project T, interested parties leave your comments down below. We can do the filming next year after 2nd Sem examinations end. Be sure do do up your ranger designs by then.

Or maybe I should be studying right now.

1Obn annual EOY gathering

Hi guys, taking some time off studies and marathoning Heroes to type this out.  Understand that a few members will be leaving for Japan during the Christmas/New Year period, so this year’s gathering should be pushed forward.

I was thinking of a bbq for our annual gathering. 8/15 Dec (both sat). Any ideas anyone? If it is to be a bbq, then i’ll have to book the bbq pit fast, and decide whether to hold it at my place. Please reply asap.

Did you know…

…that SSH Shell is enabled for the FTP account I gave you guys for access to this site?

So if you’re taking programming modules and the campus server crashes, you can use the 1obn server for programming in C. The catch is that programming on a foreign server can be quite laggy.

Ii Densetsu wo Tsukurou

I don’t know how many people are taking JLPT this coming December but here’s a Vocab list for those taking JLPT1 or JLPT2.

The vocab for JLPT2 starts from page 124.

I did say I was trying to create a miracle by chionging for level 1 within a year of achieving JLPT3 and I did manage to keep up with all the Advance classes. But apparently, Level 1 is something out of this world. It isn’t difficult, contrary to what many say, it’s more of luck-based. Basically, to be 100% sure that I can pass with super grades is only when my Japanese level is as good as my Chinese. The syllabus consists of very easy terms for Japanese if they’ve been reading books and newspapers constantly like how we have read Chinese text all our lives. Hardly do you find a word you don’t know in the sea of Chinese characters on newspapers right?

But we’re not Japanese and we don’t read Japanese newspapers everyday. Well, I do read Japanese news everyday via RSS but it’s not for 21 years.

So basically, I am now at a point where I find JLPT2 very easy but JLPT1 rather confusing. Time to chew the grammar book and vocab list, without screwing up my Uni academics that is.

Good luck to all taking exams and JLPT.
