NUS Anime Bazaar 2007

Well, I just received this poster and so here’s some advertising to those who might be interested. Basically NUS Anime and Comics Club is having an Anime Bazaar, as you can literally comprehend form the title.

Where might LT 27 be, you ask? Take bus 95 from Buona Vista MRT and alight outside the Science Faculty bus stop and follow the directions hanging above the walkways. Here’s a map, not that it actually helps:

Update: Poster updated with sponsor logos.

Hmm, are my eyes going to bleed if i go to the maid cafe?

And my AC drama club senior is in NUS anime club, haha. Qian Li, another erojiji in the making, just that he’s not old enough only. rofl.

Meh, most of us’ll be working. What’s up with the MSPaint art anyway?

  3. 3 AsouKai

Just cuz they’re an anime club doesn’t mean they know how to cg using photoshop or have intuous tablets like kwok ya know.

I give them credit for at least trying, anything other than that… heh.

  4. 4 J'onn

Ah, but that’s what pencils and scanners are for, no? XD

  5. 5 ZeroG

scanner and pencil? they fail badly… with me

Jonnz, you do know that lead is a reflective surface right, that’s why people do ‘lining’ in CG?

Pencil art looks good in reality, but once scanned…. looks quite crappy especially if you’re not skilled at drawing definite lines.

If by ‘lining’ you mean adjusting the contrast and cleaning up the lines in photoshop, then I don’t really see what the reflective properties of lead have to do with anything. If you’re “not skilled at drawing definite lines” (by which I assume you mean the lineart ends up all smudgy and stuff), well, you *could* just ink it first.

But then you’re still missing my point; namely, that it would be much better to simply do something up on paper and then scan it instead of using a cheap tablet or (gods forbid) spending 700 hours in MSPaint with your mouse….Or maybe I’m just being too critical XD

Oh well; at least they bothered to make their own art instead of just slapping on some random pic they leeched off of google *shrugs*

So, that’s what pencils *cough-pens-cough* and scanners are for, right?

    Yeah whatever.

  9. 9 tj han

Well, actually don’t come. It won’t be any good.

You get to see JH in maid costume wooo.

  11. 11 AsouKai

jh, i’m surprised you even said that. Are they doing something that you know isn’t really going to work?

Apart from making you wear a maid costume that is, though i think that’s more of an incentive to go, rofl.

lol i’m in school now happily in biz waiting for AGM… ok this is random…

i think i’ll be giving this a miss, the male butlers on matri day is enough to tell me not to go….

The poster was done in a single day, by someone who doesn’t have much experience in drawing. Tools used were obviously illustrator and photoshop, not mspaint. I’m dissapointed by people’s inability to differentiate the graphical outcome of one program from the next.

I think the question is, why even let a person like that do the advertising banner.

I’m… “dissapointed” by people’s inability to realize that different people have different interests, some of which definitely don’t include learning/knowing how to differentiate between graphical outcomes of programs.
