Seriously seriously speaking, I hate it when lyrics don’t state whether the ‘もの(mono)’ refers to 物 or 者. The former means object and the latter means person. I understand it is a favorable pun play by the Japanese to indicate more than one definite situation but it really makes the english translation process a bitch.

The previous song translation I did also had the same problem and I resorted to randomising the definition but do note that you can sub in anything you like. In this song though, I suspect both definitions are used, with ‘person’ used first and ‘object/thing’ used in the third last paragraph. Afterall, that thing is emitting a broken sound and the protagonist might be so depressed she can’t hear it. Or it just could be an indication that the person she once knew is no more.

Either all the above deductions I made, or my Japanese just sucks.
