“OH MY JESUS! 怎么我的女友摔了我啊?”
“早知如此,何必当初?”
“知你妈吊,我哪儿会知道啊?你这鸡巴毛大概就是第三者!”

“OH NOES!

    Victor- USE BABELFISH! LOL

Lian ah, the “华文,华语,COOL” campaign is there to motivate the ppl that dislike chinese give Chinese a 2nd try & and the same time promote the use of chinese language. The way u ridicule the effort of leading those noobs to the land of Chinese similar to “High level players going to a low lever Area to sabotage the gameplay of the lowbies”.

(note: u r not expected to kill a level 40 monster when u r only level 10, get it?)

    ya, i know u r juz emo-ing

  5. 5 LianYL

That’s what they want you to think Robin.

    My perspective is:
“Oh shit we fucked up our language selection and made English the norm. Now it has backfired and our Chinese level sucks. We should try to at least make some lame campaigns to cover up our stupidity in order to suck up to China.”

2nd chance to learn Chinese? These people didn’t take their Chinese lessons seriously because they hated it. Second chance? What second chance? Is learning Chinese a method to have some great opportunities that’s why you mentioned “second chance” to attain it? When you force yourself so badly to learn a language you disliked since young, you’re fucked. I’d never learn Korean even if it becomes the norm.

I studied hard for Chinese and practise it all the time because I actually give a damn to my roots and culture which no one gives a shit nowadays. So these fuckers better stop posing for learn-chinese campaigns when they don’t even give a flying fuck about anything else other than the money they receive for posing.

BTW the “COOL” catchphrase is one of the shittiest thought up in years. Go fuck yourselves.

If they have the stupid campaign, you will complain. If they don’t have, you will also complain, your gripe is not with the campaign, it’s with the lousy chinese standard, so if there was no “COOL” campaign you will still make a big fuss out of it. Am I not wrong?

How do YOU know that they are really posing for money instead of being really earnest on making up for lost time?

Who do you REALLY want to blame, the Singapore government for making a wrong move in the past, the Singapore government for taking advantage of these people with lousy chinese standard who, on growing older, might actually and finally have realised that they should give a damn to their roots, or a selective few individuals who are milking the “Be COOL” campaign?

We are born human, and born babies without knowledge of what is right and wrong. Our parents guide us through childhood, and they can never guide us through 100% perfectly. There will alway be things we learn the hard way because our parents cannot be there all the time to tell us, or we were too stubborn to listen to their words of advice. We MAKE mistakes as we go along in life, there is no such thing as doing something wrong and suffer the rest of your life for your sin. People can make amends, people can realise what they’ve done wrong, and I think you should respect that they’re trying to make up for it instead of giving up and saying,”Ah, forget it, it’s never going to work.” THESE are the kind of people I hate, and you are flaming people who, perhaps save a few, really want to do something about their mistake in not being serious in chinese class back in school.

If I’m one of those people who didn’t study hard for chinese, but still ended up with a 5 figure monthly salary with enough greenbacks to wipe my ass for shitting everyday, you think I’d give a bloody fuck about chinese? The point made here is that what really matters is how a person leads his life and how he fulfills that life, so just because they didn’t give a damn about their roots means they should go wallow in despair in one corner.

And are you done condemning people who make small mistakes that can at least be made up for? I can’t imagine what you’d say of those people in prison who might have murdered someone, or done some sort of criminal act. If by your mindset, those who didn’t give a damn about their roots should rot in hell just because they tried to make up for it, those people who murdered others and can’t make up for it (by bringing the victims back to life) should be pierced daily in non-vital areas of the body by spears in orchard road for everyone to see?

Just shut the fuck up, before I really start to condemn you for every little thing you do, like calling me yesterday when I was in a movie, not replying when I messaged you asking you why you called and then hanging up on me when I tried to call back. Then you can condemn me for being petty, then the endless loop of hate can be kickstarted. Oh wait, you already did that.

  7. 7 AsouKai

Oops a typo in paragraph 5.

*so just because they didn’t give a damn about their roots doesn’t mean they should go wallow in despair in one corner.

Lian, what’s so wrong with they(the GOV/ the 华文,华语,COOL Campaign) wanting me to think this way?
    1) Is it going to make Chinese Language a more hated language?
    2) Is it going to make SG a worst place to live in?

It is really ridiculous to go @#$@# about this campaign. Maybe it’s the method they adopt that u disagree upon. But the main underlying reason is certainly out of good will, and partially economically driven.

Maybe over at ur POV, u felt that “if they(the ppl who distaste chinese) really wants chinese, they should had cherish it in the past”. But look, is this really a VALID reason to deny them of the opportunity to chinese language again? Is it a unforgivable felony?

You said that the primary reason u studied hard for chinese is becos u respect ur heritage, culture and root. So r u going to turn english down as it has nothing to do with u? Or it’s juz becos the GOV forces u to do learn it.

I’ve gotta agree on 1 think, GOV promote chinese is partially becos of the raise of China economy. But if u simply despise the effort of GOV to promoting chinese due to this reason, i would say u r just being too naive. Heritage/Root/Culture is hard to survive on its own without economical value. And if u want to promote the language - Make it useful in as many aspect as possible.

LOL at comments. This wasn’t the point of the post in the first place but anyway, I agree with what KJ says but not with Zerog. The problem is, I am fully aware of people that make big bucks while hating Chinese language. Thus I’ve stated that they wouldn’t really give a shit about the campaign.

Zerog >> Hey do I have to stick a sticker on every comment I make telling you that it’s my POV? I laughed at your “naive” comment though, if you know why that is.

Actually what really bothered me isn’t the flames that I had foreseen. It’s this,
“Just shut the fuck up, before I really start to condemn you for every little thing you do, like calling me yesterday when I was in a movie, not replying when I messaged you asking you why you called and then hanging up on me when I tried to call back. Then you can condemn me for being petty, then the endless loop of hate can be kickstarted. Oh wait, you already did that.”

    1. I called you to ask if Jia Han has contacted you about his FFT PvP outing, not that it matters. I could never have known you were watching a movie. Unless I have telepathy like Kekkaishi.

    2. Oh yes the message you replied, it’s timed at 9.30pm last night which verifies your statement. But the funny thing is, my phone only beeped to alert me about the message THIS MORNING 10am. Singtel rocks. By then, there’s no point in replying because you won’t know what I mean if I said “Oh it’s nothing”.

    3. I couldn’t have hung up on you when you tried to call back because on my side, my phone NEVER rang even once last night. I credit this to the recent shit cell phone network. I can’t even call Chun Hui who’s just beside me in school and it sounded like he hung up on me.

    4. I never condemned you for being petty. I’m pretty confident of this.

    5. I’m rather sure I’m a kind, caring and responsible friend. Heh.

In any case, this post isn’t about the Chinese campaign. It’s about overly-spammed shit, and if I ever wanted to start an argument over Singapore’s Chinese appreciation, I wouldn’t start it here.

  10. 10 LianYL

BTW I wouldn’t complain if there wasn’t a campaign. I’m pretty sure of that. If Chinese campaigns were that useful, Chinese teachers wouldn’t be condemned till now.

  11. 11 tj han

Erm I lost my phone so the outing was cancelled.

  12. 12 LianYL

    Thanks for the heads-up.

  13. 13 ZeroG

LOL, anything lah. I’ve stated my point and that’s all it matters.

  14. 14 kokanaden

You see, this is a battle between passion and objectivity/moderation.

Obviously on the internet, passion wins, because on the internet, there is no objectivity, only subjectivity, and self-censorship.

In any case, just to point out something for fun, what does condemnation of Chinese teachers have to do with the sucess of the “Chinese COOL!” campaign?

@YL Erm, I lost my badminton racket so tmr no badminton. LOL.

  15. 15 LianYL

    Noob.

BTW, if you can’t make the link between the campaigns over the years and condemnation of Chinese teachers, I don’t see the point in continuing this post.

I shall post another flame magnet soon.

  16. 16 kokanaden

Well, if you cover up the total lack of linkage in your points by calling others noob and just leaving it as that, then it just shows that I pointed out something right.

Just for info, previously, when they focused on the need to speak good English, the English teachers were also equally condemned. And rightfully so, and this does not have to do with how the campaign failed spectacularly (and led to the formation of what we now call Singlish).

  17. 17 victor

i dun see why there’s a condemnation of language teachers when the language their trying to teach is being campaignized… or even a need to condemn

robin —> i’m saying certain other ppl… but i guess everyone understood (add classic yuanlin whoops! here)… and i speak cheena at home, so i’m not cheena illiterate :D

this is actually quite funny that here you’re condemning ppl who dun appreciate their roots (by nt studying their mother tongue properly) while the other side are mocking ppl who mug their mother tongue and nt master english language (mainsteam language)

end of the day… if they give a damn so be it, if they dun so be it… either way it’s either ur in either of the grps or in the grp i’m in… we speak both, may not be the best but well enough that we’re proud of :D

P.S. at least singlish is (sad to say) getting recognised although not an official language… it’s infectious… even americans are getting the la’s and loh’s going… it’s like black language is spreading arnd (yo man, wadzup)

which reminds me… the introduction of internet has brought down walls built around cultures, so much so that the cultures of the world are mixing with each other… how true

  18. 18 LianYL

I don’t have to cover up because it’s so obvious. You choose to ignore it. Noob.

  19. 19 kokanaden

    Who’s the other side?

    And its “Yo, wasssssssssssssssssup!”

Yours sound like ketchup. Btw, globalisation brought down walls between culture, i.e. the invention of ships and inter-continental trade. The Internet is just the latest incarnation.

@ YL Who wants to see you naked. Of course if you don’t cover up I’ll ignore la.

  20. 20 LianYL

    I see my backside.

  21. 21 victor

ok maybe the difference is much more on the speed and volume??? come to think abt it… a human can be “teleported” using a quantum comp… hmmmm
